JAKARTA Indonesia is looking to attract more Chinese tourists, aiming to welcome one million to 1.5 million Chinese tourist in 2024, according to Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

The minister said he has invited Chinese tourism firms to intensify tour packages to Indonesia, particularly to super priority destinations to promote the country’s natural advantages and cultural identities.

Speaking to the press and Chinese tourism firms in Shanghai on June 28, the minister said, besides Bali, Indonesia has promoted five super priority destinations, namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo and Mandalika.

He introduced Indonesia’ achievements in tourism and creative economy to international friends, noting that the country has leaped 10 notches from 32nd to 22nd place in the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index.

According to the minister, at least 14 China’s cities have launched direct flights to Indonesia’s cities, creating a favourable condition to boost tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries. VNA/VNS
